The
herb Mint is undoubtedly one of the herbs best known and most widely
used by Bulgarians in different forms - the more traditional - as a
drink (tea) and the newer - as a part of food supplements or ointments
(most often as an extract of peppermint or peppermint oil).


Mint
is a plant genus with several basic varieties, which is widespread in
our country and grows both wild and cultivated. In medicine, both
traditional and modern, the so-called " black (or hot) peppermint
(Mentha Piperita). In the culinary industry, the Spicy Mint (Mentha
spicata), which everyone knows simply as a mint, is used.
Mint is a low plant, rarely resembling a small bush, with reddish colors that appear between July and August, with a characteristic smell due to the high menthol content (mainly peppermint).
