Banana Hair Mask for Dry & Dull Hair
Is your hair dry, dull and moisture-deprived? Banana hair mask will add plenty of moisture and shine to your lifeless tresses. With lots of antioxidants, vitamin C and other goodness, bananas are great for your hair.
You will need:
1 ripe banana (2 if you have long hair)
2 tablespoon olive oil or coconut oil
2 tablespoon honey
1/2 cup full-fat milk (you can also use coconut milk or yogurt)
1 tablespoon butter (optional)
1 teaspoon of lime juice (optional)
Pick and ripen the banana (s), put it in a blender (or use a stick blender). Very ripe bananas work best for this recipe. Then add honey, coconut / olive oil, and milk and blend really well. You do not want any chunks, just a smooth paste of creamy consistency. This will make it easier to rinse out.Banana type:1. If you want to save yourself the hassle of blending the banana, just use banana baby food puree. Open the banana puree bottle, add the remaining ingredients and mix well and you are ready to go. This will also save you from banana bits sticking to your hair.
2. I read this somewhere, if you do not want the banana to stick to your hair: split the banana in half and remove the center black seeds, then use for the mask.banana hair pack
To Use:
Apply this mask starting at roots and working your way to the ends. Slather as much as you can, making sure you have covered every bit of your scalp and hair. Wind your hair into a loose good if long.
Put on a shower cap or wrap a towel around your head to prevent dripping all over your house.
Leave this on for about 30 minutes. While you wait for 30 minutes .. you can read a book, listen to some soothing music, watch your favorite show or sit in a bath. I chose the last option. I put some sea salt and a few drops of lavender essential oil and soaked in for a relaxing bath.
Then rinse the hair thoroughly and shampoo as usual. You may not need to condition your hair (see how your hair feels).
Let your hair dry.
And enjoy your beautiful hair 🙂
Banana Residue: After I dried my hair, I saw banana bits still left on my hair. This was probably because I did not mix the bananas well and there were some chunks left in. Anyway, I could not do much then, so I just let my hair dry. After it was 90% dry, I untangled my hair using a wide tooth comb, starting at the ends and slowly working my way up. I then run a fine comb through my hair to make sure I have no banana bits left in my hair.I loved the way my hair felt - super soft. I can not wait to try this mask again !!Have a ripe banana sitting in your kitchen? Try this delicious mask for silky smooth hair.I'd love to hear how yours turned out ...
Word of advice: Do not try this mask just before a party or some important event. Try this at your leisure so you are not left pulling your hair if something was to go wrong. When I first made the banana hair mask I did not mix it very well and I was left to remove a lot of banana bits from my hair, which was not very nice. The second time I made sure to blend the banana mixture really well - and leave no chunks. This mask was a great success. It was so much easier to wash off and after I dried my hair .... it was pure bliss. My hair was really soft, silky and smooth.
